About St Paul's Cathedral
Architect: Christopher Wren and Nicholas Hawksmoor Construction: 1675-1710 Height: 111m Function: Place of worship Borough: City of London
St Paul’s Cathedral was built in place of a medieval structure damaged beyond repair by the Great Fire of London in 1666. Inspired by his travels in France and his knowledge of Italian architecture, Christopher Wren proposed a vast double-skinned dome as the central feature.
